Paralegal (December ‘24)

  • We want (2) paralegals to join our talented team! As a member of Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and the National Association of Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms, JSL has achieved a high level of success litigating cases on behalf of Fortune 500 clients.

    The Position

    This position provides an experienced paralegal an excellent opportunity to continue developing strong legal skills working closely with our talented legal team, while maintaining a great work-life balance.

The selected candidate will assist our attorneys in preparing cases from onset through completion. Candidates must demonstrate attention to detail, and an excellent ability to prioritize and handle tasks efficiently.     Duties

    • Assist JSL attorneys in all stages of the litigation process from onset through trial, when necessary.

    • Assist with trial preparation, including creating trial notebooks, organizing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, and maintaining firm’s trial calendars and deadlines.

    • Oversee organization, maintenance, and appropriate utilization of documents and other case materials.

    • Coordination of e-filing and serving documents on all parties.

    • Assist with drafting and responding to written discovery.

    • Perform analytical tasks, including preparing witness interview memoranda and summary of documents and deposition transcripts.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Ability to understand details within a larger context.

    • Ability to multitask and prioritize workflow for the firm’s short-term goals and long- term success.

    • Efficient time management skills.

    • Good computer skills.

    • Proficient with Microsoft 365 products: Microsoft Office, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams.

    • Proficient with Westlaw.

    Qualifications and Prior Experience

    • 3 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal.

    • Experience working with judicial assistants and assisting attorneys with hearings or trial preparation.

    • Paralegal certificate from certified paralegal program preferred.

    Salary:

    • From $68,000. Salary commensurate with experience.
